Greetings!
This email is the first in a series that I will be writing to help familiarize you with the brands carried here at JRABS. I will be going through our catalog of brands that we represent. Brands like Cinelli, Bianchi, Kona, Lynskey, and many more. |
A Brief History | | Rolf Prima & JRABS - It was meant to be!
Shortly after opening up shop, I went down to the NAHBS in Richmond, VA to scope out a high-end, custom frame manufacturer to compliment the Bianchi bikes that I was (and still am) carrying. At this time I had already started building my own custom wheels based around White Industries hubs, Sapim CX-Ray spokes, and Velocity Rims.
I had no idea how many manufactures would be there. I was strolling down one of the isles, when I recognized a familiar face. It was Brian Roddy, owner of Rolf Prima Wheel Systems. Brian and I had previously worked together in '94 and '95 at BikesUSA in Gaithersburg. I went off to work at a shop in San Antonio, and Brian went to work at Trek Bicycle as an engineer in the Rolf Wheel division, headed up by Rolf Dietrich. Rolf later split from Trek, and Brian bought the company once Rolf retired. After Brian and I got re-acquanted, he showed me the Rolf Prima products, and I was very impressed. The Wheels | | Something for everyone!
I would like to go over each series of wheels that Rolf Prima has to offer. Whether you're riding around town, racing in a road race, on the track, on the mountain bike, or doing an Ironman, there's a set for you.
Vigor Series - These are the most popular wheel we sell. The Vigor's combination of wind-cheating aerodynamics at it's minimal weight is unrivaled. New for 2013, the
Vigor and Vigor RS use the Delta Rim Technology introduced originally in the Vigor Alpha, improving their already best-in-class speed, stiffness, and handling.
| Vigor Alpha |
The Vigor Alpha will also be available in a tubular version this April, and I will be putting them on my Cinelli. This is the fastest Aluminum wheel you can buy - period. And, if you're worried about the low spoke count, I weigh over 200lbs. Click HERE to see how the Vigor Alpha stacks up to the competition!
TdF Series - The TdF line has been the heart of Rolf Prima's carbon line from the start and what their pros race to the top of podium spots. But it's not only professionals who will benefit from the countless design, development and testing hours that went into the creation of their Delta Rim Technology. It is anyone who rides them. Introduced in 2012 and expanded to the new TdF4
| TdF6 SL |
SL (only 1165g!) in 2013, the Delta rim profile improves every aspect of the ride from crosswind stability to weight, handling, and outright speed.
We will have a set of TdF6 wheels for demo this Spring.
Ares Carbon - The Rolf Prima Ares wheels prove that there is no need to compromise; you can have it all. The Ares wheels provide the convenience of clincher tire compatibility with the aerodynamic benefits previously reserved for tubulars. The coated brake tracks combined with the Rolf Prima brake pads provide exceptional braking power and modulation. Ares wheels come in three rim depths ( 80mm, 66mm, and 46mm) and can be ordered separately allowing riders to get the combinations they want.
Elan - Choosing between lightweight or aerodynamics is no longer required. The Elan wheel line is not only downright light, but fast too. New for 2013, the Elan Alpha (1315g!) and Elan are built on Rolf Prima's Delta Rim Technology;

improving stiffness, handling and moving lightweight wheels into the aero category, all while shedding even more weight.
Echelon/Aspin - Rolf Prima's Echelon and Aspin wheels are built to be race ready with added robustness for everyday use. Great for training or racing, the Echelon and Echelon SL are built on the technology of the Vigor while the Aspin and Aspin SL take their design cues from the Elan. These are great

options for riders seeking the quality of USA hand-built wheels and performance techonogy, at the right price points.
Mountain - Building on their successful Mountain bike wheel
| Ralos9 CXC |
launch, Rolf Prima's 2013 XC line features XC carbon mountain bike wheels. The Ralos9 CXC is built around an all-carbon clincher rim and custom USA machined XST+ hubs with a titanium CNC'd free-hub body. The Ralos family also gains a 650b size option.
Cyclocross - Rolf Prima's Cyclocross wheel line is already the industry's broadest, and for 2013 they have improved each

model. The VCX and VCX-Disc, available in either tubular or clincher rim, have moved to the wide Delta rim profile along with external nipples. Rolf's popular ECX line is also available in tubular or clincher and is an excellent entry level, performance option.
