MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
|
Hello Students and Families,
March has been a busy month, and we get to look forward to a week of rest now. Our Crews for Gala, John Proctor is the Villain, Fantasia Spring Ballet, and IA Acting Showcase all performed their roles wonderfully! Once we return from spring break, we are in the final weeks of conservatory. I’m excited to take our students on a field trip to Occidental College to see Legally Blonde, and then to host Roosevelt Brown for a Sneaker Design master class in early May. Look through the announcements below for more details and to sign up. I also want to give an early heads up to everyone, the next grading period ends on April 19 and all scores from this grading period will be locked in. Make sure you are on top of your missing assignments, check Aeries!
All the Best,
Mr. Adam Roy

Fashion/Sneaker Design Master Class
We have the honor to host Roosevelt Brown, an Art Center Professor, from Designing Dreams Initiative with their "Design a Jordan Sneaker" workshop that was recently featured in Pasadena Now. This is a hands on immersive workshop that exposes students to the power of the creative economy, design, technology and careers found within the footwear and design industries. Please fill out this Form to register and hold your spot. There are limited spaces available, and P&D is covering the cost. However, if you sign up and do not attend, there will be a $50 charge to cover the cost of materials. Workshops are on Fridays 5/10 and 5/17 3pm-5pm, and you must attend BOTH.

Open Crew Call
Please look through the Crew Assignments Sheet for any blue highlighted cells. These positions need to be filled so if you want to join your friends on an upcoming production email me and Mrs. Nakoa.
Snack Cabinet Restock
With so many big productions at the beginning of the spring semester, our snack cabinet and chest freezer are running low. The snack cabinet and chest freezer are specifically for our student crew and P&D staff who need a little extra energy to get through the long days of tech. Some key items that we need restocked are: cup of noodles, granola bars, chips, frozen entrees, and any other snack sized items are welcome. Please remember that we are a nut-free campus and we'd like to steer away from candy (and the subsequent sugar crash). If any of you are able to help us with restocking the snack cabinet, you can send items with your student, dropped off at the front desk, or dropped off at my office. Please make sure someone receives them if they are perishable 🙂 Thank you in advance!
Want to see Legally Blonde at Occidental College?

C to Pass, B to Advance
We are implementing a new grading policy in Production & Design. In order to advance to the next level in each course pathway, students must earn a minimum grade of a B. While the grade of C still counts as passing the course and you will still earn credit, we feel that students should demonstrate moderate mastery of a subject in order to move to the next level.
Attendance is Mandatory
Please ensure you are attending all your academic and conservatory classes. Rehearsals and Performances are not an acceptable excuse for an absence. If you have unexcused absences from academic classes, you will not be permitted to work any crew assignments.
Tardies Add Up
Please be on time to class and when returning from break. Excessive tardiness will result in consequences, each additional 10 tardies you incur result in more severe consequences being levied. If you accrue more than 40 tardies you will not be eligible for extra-curriculars, including Crew.
Check Google Classroom
Teachers post assignments and resources to their Google Classrooms. Make sure you check there for information, instructions, and due dates.
Citrus Community College Early College (Dual Enrollment) Classes
We are fortunate to have an amazing partnership with Citrus College through which we offer several of our arts conservatory classes as part of their early college program. This enables our students to earn transferable college credit for classes in our normal curriculum, and these classes are offered on our campus! Due to FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), progress reports are not able to be shared via Google classroom with parents, and communication with teachers of these classes has limitations. Please carefully check your child's schedule for any classes that are labeled "CCC'' in the title; if so, your child is enrolled in a Citrus College dual enrollment class. Please have continued open and direct conversation with your child to ensure that they are aware that their grade in this class exists not only at CSArts, but as part of an official college transcript, possibly affecting future college admissions decisions. Please reach out to Mr. Roy with any questions.
