OIL SPILL FORCES STATE BEACH CLOSURES

Huntington State Beach, Bolsa Chica State Beach and Crystal Cove State Park are closed until further notice because of the oil spill off the Orange County coast on October 2.

If the spill flows south as predicted, San Clemente State Beach and San Onofre State Beach may be affected as well.

Current statements by the US Coast Guard indicate the oil spill stretches from Huntington Beach to Laguna Beach and projections have the spill moving south given wind and current conditions.

Other city and county beaches may be affected by the spill. Please consult relevant offices for up-to-date information on Newport Beach and Laguna Beach.
