JohnSchoolPBC

The John School is

our effort to address both supply and demand for commercial sex in Palm Beach County. A diversion program is for individuals arrested on misdemeanor prostitution charges. Taking the class, paying court fees & getting STI testing, removes charges from the individuals' records. We would really like to make it mandatory! Buyers taking the course report a significant change in their thinking & future choices! That, ladies and gentlemen, is called success!!

Filming

LHPBC is actively involved in improving the laws regarding commercial sexual exploitation in FL!

We are working with Judy Traub from the National Council of Jewish Women and Heidi Shaffer from FLITE to make John School mandatory - instead of optional as it is currently, for prostitution arrests. To that end, we are filming the classes so when the law changes, we can offer them immediately to anyone in the state!

Legislative Objectives...

In addition to making the John School mandatory, we are also working to change the law to require licensure for adult entertainers. Currently, Palm Beach County alone requires licenses. We hope to require a basic training on human trafficking for the licensure that must be renewed every two years - like other professional licenses.

The reality is that women working in those venues will be approached by a trafficker, probably a "Romeo Trafficker" and we want them to be familiar with the scenario for their own safety. We have these classes filmed (along with the John School classes) in both English and Spanish.

Know anyone who speaks Creole? We would like to record these classes in Creole as well, to make it widely accessible.

Making Waves Productions

Making Waves Productions is proud to support LighthousePBC. Through our commitment to this cause, we aim to leverage our expertise in video and marketing to uplift and empower women in need.

As a woman-owned business, we are honored to use our skills to create content that not only helps the program but showcases the women involved and their own strengths with dignity and respect.

The decision to partner with Lighthouse PBC stems from our profound belief in leading purpose-driven lives and creating content that transcends mere marketing – content that drives positive impacts in society.

By volunteering our video and marketing skills, we aspire to elevate awarenessboost donations, and encourage increased volunteer participation, thus magnifying LHPBC’s reach and impact.

While our past engagements primarily involved volunteering for ocean nonprofits, meeting Becky at a local networking event was the catalyst that inspired our collective decision to support Lighthouse PBC.

Productive vs. Non-Productive Pain

One of the conversations we often have at a Pop-Up is the difference between productive vs. non-productive pain. Non-Productive pain is nursing a toothache with ice and aspirin. It WILL get worse, and the pain has no productive value.

Productive pain is calling the dentist, letting them fix what's wrong. The pain WILL get worse - while they give you shots, drill, cleanse and fill the cavity, BUT the pain has productive value: It will address the cause and will yield a pain free mouth!

As we build relationships while the clothes are in the wash, we work to instill hope, to support the opportunity to dream again, and imagine what life could be like if they took the risk to leave the (non-productive pain of the) street.

We have gotten three women off the street already this year!! And I took pizza a local business donated to one of the regular hangouts - met two women I knew there. The one said she is coming today and wants to go to detox!! YAY!!! Let's pray she shows up!!

And LightHousePBC will be there for her through detox and rehab, and beyond to help her rebuild a life of significance, beauty and eternal value!
