This fall, CUNY is offering many ways to support professional development. Here’s our latest curated list of CUNY-sponsored, and other trainings, courses, and resources. 

 

Upcoming Deadlines

HEO-CLT Professional Development Fund

November 1, 2024 is the next deadline to apply to the HEO-CLT Professional Development Fund. 

 

Save the Date

2024 CUNY Professional Development Conference

Join University Human Resources Professional Development & Learning Office virtually on November 6th and November 7th for its annual CUNY Professional Development Conference:"The Change Ahead: Dare to Imagine and Innovate".  

The conference is free, and open to all employees.

RSVP for the conference by Monday, November 4 to ensure a spot.

 

Fall trainings and courses

NYC DCAS courses on inclusivity

NYC Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) offers various in-person and virtual courses on cultural awareness and inclusivity, management and supervision, personal development, technology and more. 

Before registering, staff must receive approval from their supervisor, then complete and submit the Professional Development Registration Form to University.Training@cuny.edu. 

Employees will be notified within 7 business days if confirmed. Some courses are free, and others range from $75 to $1000+ for certifications. 

Speak to your supervisor and Human Resources as to whether financial support is available through your department, CUNY SPH administration, the HEO-CLT Professional Development Fund, or other means.

Office of Professional Development & Learning courses

The Office of Professional Development & Learning (PDL), is offering a number of courses this fall.

Sessions are half and full days, and range from $75 to $300 per person. Before registering, obtain approval from your supervisor, then complete the Fall 2024 Course Registration Form.

Once submitted, you and your supervisor will receive a confirmation email from University.Training@cuny.edu within 7 business days.

Free trainings through the NYCCHHR

PDL is also offering free trainings through the NYC Commission on Human Rights (NYCCHR). The six virtual workshops, held October through January are on a range of topics, including discrimination and bias.

To read more about the workshops and to register, click here. The first session is Tuesday, October 1st, 2024.  Employees will receive a meeting invitation with the link to the workshops the day before the session begins.

Computing & Information Services trainings

Computing & Information Services (CIS), is offering several live webinars this fall on OneDrive, AI, Teams, Forms, and Outlook.  Visit the CIS training site for more information and to register.

 

Resources

Tuition Waiver

As a CUNY employee you are eligible for a Tuition Waiver. Once you satisfy the service requirements specified by your position (see tuition waiver page for details).

You are eligible to waive the cost of tuition at any CUNY school, up to a maximum of $5250.00 tax-free, per year.

CUNY Professional Development & Learning

CUNY offers a variety of virtual and in-person courses at CUNY Central office. Information on specific sessions, including registration procedures, can be found on the CUNY Professional Development & Learning website.

The cost of attending a course ranges from $75 to $275 per person. Speak to your supervisor and Human Resources as to whether financial support is available through your department, SPH administration, the HEO-CLT Professional Development Fund, or other means.

LinkedIn Learning Access

Via the New York Public Library (NYPL), access LinkedIn Learning (at no cost), using your NYPL card by clicking here. To apply for a NYPL card, click here.  

Your card is only active for 30 days, and you will need to visit one of NYPL’s open locations to validate your card. For non-NYC residents, bring a copy of your CUNY ID card. Harlem Library is the closest location to SPH offices.

Via CUNY, limited access is available through University Human Resources and Labor Relations (UHR), Professional Development and Learning (PDL), by completing a request form here.

Please note PDL has a small number of licenses and access is limited to 3 weeks.
