Upcoming Deadlines

HEO/CLT Professional Development Fund

November 1, 2025 is the next deadline to apply to the HEO/CLT Professional Development Fund - a small grants fund available to CUNY HEOs and CLTs to support academic and professional pursuits.

CUNY Professional Development & Learning

Professional Development & Learning (PDL)

CUNY’s Office of Professional Development & Learning (PDL) is holding in-person courses at CUNY Central (395 Hudson Street) in communication styles, leadership, emotional intelligence, and more. A complete list of course offerings and dates can be found in the Fall 2025 Catalog here. 

SPH employees must obtain supervisor approval, and supervisors must obtain approval from Theresa Matis in the Finance Office before an employee submits a registration request, as courses have a $160 fee.  After obtaining approvals, complete the Fall 2025 Registration Form. 

NYC Commission on Human Rights Virtual Workshops (Free)

The NYC Commission on Human Rights (NYCCHR) is hosting six 1.5 hour free virtual workshops for CUNY employees.

Topics include: age discrimination, working with transgender & gender non-conforming persons, understanding Muslim experience & combating Anti-Muslim bias, understanding Jewish experience & antisemitism, bystander intervention, and anti-black racism & other forms of discrimination based on race and color.

To register, complete the NYCCHR Workshops Registration Form. 

Annual Professional Development Conference (Free) 

The CUNY Human Resources, Professional Development & Learning Office is hosting the annual Professional Development Conference on November 12 and 13. This year's theme is "The Human Renaissance: Reimagining Leadership and Innovation in Higher Ed."

This virtual, free conference is open to all employees. Those interested can RSVP here. Detailed information will be shared with registered participants in the coming weeks. 

Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS)

The Fall 2025 DCAS Citywide Course Catalog offers a variety of free and fee-based courses on topics such as cultural awareness & inclusivity, management & supervision, personal development and technology. 

Before registering, staff must receive approval from their supervisor, then submit the Professional Development Registration Form to University.Training@cuny.edu.  Employees will be notified within 7 business days if confirmed.

Speak to your supervisor and Human Resources as to whether financial support is available through your department, SPH administration, the HEO-CLT Professional Development Fund or other means. 

 

Skill Building Spotlight: Productivity and Time Management 

The fall semester is often the busiest time of year, with competing deadlines and priorities. Take one of these courses for strategies on managing your time and prioritizing.  

  • Boosting Your Time Management with AI Tools (41m, 2025) shows you how to harness the power of artificial intelligence to improve your time management, enhance productivity, and achieve your goals more efficiently. This is an unordered list
  • How to Set Goals When Everything Feels Like a Priority (49m, 2025) provides techniques that you can leverage to get clarity on what to prioritize, as well as how to take action when you find yourself unsure of your next steps. 
  • How to Get Started on Tasks You’re Avoiding (17m, 2025) provides tools and techniques to overcome task avoidance and get started on daunting tasks. 
  • Becoming Indistractable: Understanding Internal Triggers at Work (32m, 2024) gives practical tips for handling common distractions, such as email, and reducing unnecessary interruptions.

Tuition Waiver

As a CUNY employee you are eligible for a Tuition Waiver. Once you satisfy the service requirements specified by your position (see tuition waiver page for details), you are eligible to waive the cost of tuition at any CUNY school, up to a maximum of $5250.00 tax-free, per year.  

LinkedIn Learning Access

Via the New York Public Library (NYPL), access LinkedIn Learning (at no cost), using your NYPL card by clicking here. To apply for a NYPL card, click here.   

Your card is only active for 30 days, and you will need to visit one of NYPL’s open locations to validate your card. For non-NYC residents, bring a copy of your CUNY ID card. Harlem Library is the closest location to SPH offices. 

Via CUNY, limited access is available through University Human Resources and Labor Relations (UHR), Professional Development and Learning (PDL), by completing a request form here. Please note PDL has a small number of licenses and access is limited to 3 weeks.
