Culturally Responsive Practices and Pedagogy (CRPP) Year 3 Cohort Almost Full!

CRPP is a professional development program funded by a grant from the California Community College Chancellor's Office designed to nurture development of culturally responsive pedagogy and classroom practices for disproportionately impacted and underrepresented students.

This is an opportunity to participate in Foothill College's third and final cohort in 2025-2026. Join this year-long cohorted experience to engage with peers and support one another to deepen your understanding and applications of Culturally Responsive Pedagogy. Choose between a stipend of up to $3000 or PGA credit for program completion! The 2025-2026 cohort is almost full - don't wait to register.

Part-Time Faculty Orientation

This is our Spring new faculty orientation session. It's geared for new part-time faculty AND for veteran part-time faculty who'd just like a refresher. Please note that per Article 7 of our FA Agreement (7.26.1), all part-time faculty are able to participate once a year and be you'll be reimbursed for your time at a rate of $25/hour*. Participants will be asked to have their cameras on for the session in order to receive the stipend.

No registration needed - just show up!

Supporting Equity on Campus in Today's Contentious Political Environment

In this webinar co-produced by USC’s Race & Equity Center and Pullias Center for Higher Education, the panelists will share research-based strategies for navigating today’s anti-DEI political environment. USC Pullias Center researchers will discuss their Shared Equity Leadership (SEL) model and research on how it is being used in politically-restrictive environments to continue to conduct equity work in support of student success.

Then, researchers with the USC Race and Equity Center will share their Everyday Equity Playbook, which is designed to help faculty, staff and administrators facilitate conversations about race and equity. Together, the framework and tool can help leaders at all levels of the institution navigate challenges at the organizational and interpersonal levels.

Language Equity in Academia Reimagining (k)Nowledge

The LEARN conference is highly inclusive of high school and university educators, with a special focus on community colleges. The conference centers various ways to bring language/linguistic justice and equity to higher ed across the curriculum and overall campus culture. Our goal is to bring together an exchange of ideas and practices by those working - or interested in working - in language equity pedagogy, and to broaden the use of language equity strategies in curricula, pedagogy, across all disciplines, and in campus-wide culture and practices.

This is a great opportunity for educators and students from all areas to partake in a transformative conference dedicated to advancing social justice and language equity.

CalOER Conference 2025

Beyond the Horizon: Challenges and Opportunities in Scaling Open Education

August 6 - 8, 2025 via Zoom

Registration and the Call for Proposals are now available for the fifth annual Cal OER Conference. Cal OER focuses on OER efforts and impact, broadly defined, across the state of California and particularly across the state’s three public higher education systems, the California Community Colleges, the California State University, and the University of California.

The theme for the 2025 conference is Beyond the Horizon: Challenges and Opportunities in Scaling Open Education and this year's themes are:

1. Engaging Students in Open Education: Proposals in this track are uniquely focused on students – efforts to engage students in OER advocacy, involve students in OER development, and proposals from students are anticipated in this track. 
2. Implementing and Sustaining OER Programs: Proposals in this track focus on the practical steps required to launch, integrate, and/or sustain OER programs within educational institutions.
3. Innovations with Open Education: Proposals in this track explore creative and cutting-edge approaches to open education that push the boundaries of traditional teaching and learning. 
4. Impact and Efficacy of Open Education: Proposals in this track aim to provide a clear understanding of how OER and open education models are transforming education, improving learning experiences, and addressing challenges such as cost, access, and equity.

Strengthening Student Success Conference is CELEBRATING! It’s our 20th anniversary and we hope you will join us this year as we explore together Co-Creating a Liberatory Future for our students and our communities. Paulo Freire, one of the most well-known and influential educational theorists of the 20th Century, states, “Liberating education consists in acts of cognition, not transferals of information.” Highlighting transformational approaches to teaching and learning is the heart and soul of the Strengthening Student Success Conference, and this year is no different. In fact, now more than ever, there is a strong sense of urgency to frame our teaching and learning in a way that co-creates with students a more just and equitable institution where students are given agency and leadership in their own learning; where learning environments are actively inclusive and honor the differences among people; and where campuses value and actively advocate for equitable treatment of all who come to learn.
