WHAT'S NEW AT COSEBOC?

Newton Public Schools Partnership Kickoff

Newton, MA: To kick off our partnership with Newton Public Schools, a group of 20 NPS staff from across the district, and in varying roles, participated in the first two sessions of the COSEBOC Standards for Schools Educating Boys of Color. In these two days, participants reflected on identity, the state of affairs for boys of color in the education system and the work needed to create a larger impact for belonging, equity and excellence for students in NPS.

"Thank you to the COSEBOC team for your thoughtful facilitation and to all NPS participants for an incredible experience of learning and community building with a shared purpose."

D.R.U.M. Training: Boston Public Schools Office of Opportunity Gap

“Yet another COSEBOC historic moment that will increase the momentum of the movement.” ~Kamau Ptah

COSEBOC Professional Learning Facilitators, Kamau Ptah and Timothy Jones, facilitated a D.R.U.M. (Discovering Rituals, Understanding Manhood) training with the Boston Public Schools Office of Opportunity Gap, 10 Boys Initiative.

We want to share these gracious words sent to Kamau and COSEBOC from Velecia Saunders, Executive Director of Immigrant & Targeted Populations:

"I am very grateful that we were finally able to get both you and Timothy to Boston to facilitate the training as it is foundational to the work that we need to do in Boston as we relaunch our 10 Boys program. I was aware of how powerful, committed and passionate you are Kamau with this work as I have had the opportunity to experience your genius on many occasions at COSEBOC conventions. However, I did knot know just how equally powerful, committed and passionate brother Timothy was and just how incredibly impactful you men are together as a team."

Celebrating a Legacy of Leadership and Love

October was an exciting month for COSEBOC as we celebrated Ron Walker for over 50 years of leadership, driven by love and deep purpose. Each event was full of powerful tributes to Ron for the impact he has had on the lives of so many.

On October 21st and October 28th, I experienced the thrill of a lifetime attending the Gratitude Salutes hosted in Philadelphia and Boston. Both were amazing events that filled me with love and joy…”  (Read Ron’s full thank you letter and see photos!)
