We serve. We advocate. We make a difference.
Both Doris Marshall, First Dallas UWF President and new UWF member, Marilee Hayden, live their faith with their advocacy.
Marilee Hayden, recently joined Arapaho UMC and is new to UWF. She attended a recent Social Justice event co-presented by the UWF at St. Paul UMC and First UMC - Dallas, where Doris is President. Marilee's main takeaway was, “that people of faith must take action. . . SMU doctoral student and UWF member, Shandon Klein, told us that we need to consider what our actions say about our belief in God and that we need to be cognizant of the power we hold. That power is the power to make change.” Marilee has written blogs about advocating and prepared training on how to call your elected officials effectively.
During the Texas legislative sessions (like now), retired social worker, Doris Marshall, prepares Action Alerts that summarize the issues and advocacy recommendations that align with UWF Priorities from Texas Impact (People of Faith, Working For Justice), NAMI Texas, and others. She knows that when you contact your elected officials, you make an impact because most people don't bother. Her emails provide issue information, phone numbers, and the timelines you need to advocate for women, children, youth, the marginalized and disenfranchised.
Both Doris and Marilee attended the 2023 Texas Legislative Event in Austin presented by UWF and our partner, Texas Impact.
Contact Doris if you would like to receive her Alerts and updates.
Contact Marilee if you would like to be involved in letter writing or other legislative advocacy efforts, or want more information on the Texas Impact agenda.
