Program Updates

Project Submissions

Because of our participating SoCalRen contractors’ hard work and

efforts, we are having a good year and are on track to achieve our savings goals.

As a friendly reminder, now is the time to make sure you get your projects

submitted and approved so your incentives are reserved before our funding is committed to other projects

The program is still implementing the 5,000 Therms cap on all new projects for 2022. If you have a project with a scope of work that exceeds the 5,000 Therms, our Program Management will review and determine authorization on a case-by-case basis. The authorization decision will be based on making sure our participating contractors and customers can benefit from an incentive budget that lasts throughout the year. Note that electric measures and kWh will not be affected by this cap. The 5,000 Therms cap does not apply to projects that already have an existing reservation letter with prior authorization.

Other Program Updates

SCE’s Charge Ready Program

SCE’s Charge Ready program assists business and property owners with deploying

the infrastructure and equipment necessary to support electric vehicle (EV) charging

stations at their multi-family buildings. Through the Charge Ready program, property owners can have charger infrastructure and maintenance costs 100% covered by SCE and up to 80% of the charger costs. LA County's Multifamily Charge 4 All program (see next article) provides an additional incentive of up to $2,500 that can be used on its own or stacked on top of an SCE Charge Ready project.

The Charge Ready program is specifically designed for light-duty passenger vehicles, the program helps by providing financial incentives, infrastructure, and technical support to facilitate the installation and maintenance of EV charging stations. With greater ease and affordability, property owners can now meet the growing demand for clean energy charging options from their employees, communities, and/or tenants. They offer multiple program options for qualified participants. Check out the Charge Ready Tools and Resources webpage which offers concise fact sheets and in-depth guides for each of their Charge Ready program options.

More information can be found on the SCE Electric Vehicles for Business: Charge Ready website. If you have any questions on the SCE Charge Ready Program, please email chargeready@sce.com

Multifamily Charge 4 All Program

The Multifamily Charge 4 All program offers an additional rebate of $2500/charger for any property that is participating in a multifamily energy efficiency program. Properties are not limited to only SoCalREN’s Multifamily rebate program. The $2500/charger can be stacked in conjunction with SCE’s Charge Ready program or as a standalone incentive. All disadvantaged community (DAC) properties within SCE’s service territory are eligible to participate. Please reach out to your account manager with any questions. More information can be found by visiting the Multifamily Charge 4 All website.

Contractor Spotlight

"Evergreen Smart Energy is based in Southern California and offers its services throughout Los Angeles County. We have several years of experience working with hotels, businesses and homes to provide energy saving solutions to properties with exceptional results."

We asked Ryan Park, from Evergreen Smart Energy, questions on the company and what its like participating in the SoCalREN Multifamily Program.

Tell us about your business and how you got started?

Our company, Evergreen Smart Energy, is a contractor company looking to install and improve the energy usage for residential and commercial properties. This company originally started with attic and toilet installations, and are now expanding into other energy efficient solutions.

What’s one thing you love about the work you do?

The feeling of when a client lets us know that they are ecstatic over the successful project for their property and they want to continue with our business for upgrading their other properties. Nothing beats knowing your hard work paid off!

What is your favorite part of participating in the SoCalREN Multifamily Program?

My favorite part of participating in the SoCalREN Multifamily Program is the constant engagement with the SoCalREN Multifamily Program personnel. The great support that is provided for us contractors is a huge factor for successful projects and keeping our clientele happy. In the end, we are a huge team and must work together to succeed!

What has been your favorite project over the last few years?

My favorite project over the last few years has been a multifamily property located in Northern California. For that property, we had installed the lighting and additional construction work. This project has been a favorite of mine because we had the opportunity to engage directly with the client and meet all of their needs beyond the original scope of work. With the constant engagement, we had created a relationship that carried beyond that project and have now installed in multiple properties they own throughout California. The result of our hard work is a prime example of what we as contractors strive for in this field.
