Peer Gynt here . . .
and I'll be popping in (through the music of Edvard Grieg, that is) to the SSO concert
October 5. Hope to see you then.
Editor's Note: Yes, there was a program change for the upcoming concert not reflected in the Con Spirito issue that you recently received.
So Grieg's acclaimed Peer Gynt, written to accompany Henrik Ibsen's play, will be on the program, replacing Felix Mendelssohn's Incidental Music to A Midsummer Night's Dream.
We apologize for the error.
Peer Gynt satirizes Norwegian culture through the exploits of a Norwegian peasant who abducts a bride from her wedding and then abandons her to travel the world on other adventures. Selections include Ingrid's Lament, Arabian Dance, Solveig's Song, Morning Mood and In the Hall of the Mountain King.
Great fun! Great music.
The concert begins at 7:30pm Saturday, October 5, in Avondale United Church, 194 Avondale Avenue, Stratford.
Tickets are available at Fanfare Books and Blowes Stationery in Stratford and at Lyric Flowers in St. Marys, as well as online and at the door. Adult: $40; student: $10. Children under 12 are admitted free.
