Make Your Indian River Lagoon
Award Nominations Now
Now is the time to pause and consider the historic and inspirational progress being made all across the Indian River Lagoon coastal community of east central Florida, and nominate those who should be recognized.
  • Who should be celebrated in 2023 for outstanding service to the Indian River Lagoon?
  • Who should longest be remembered along the lagoon?

Making a nomination is quick and simple.
  • Send an email to [email protected] by Aug. 31, 2023
  • Subject: Nomination
  • In the email provide your name and preferred contact info
  • Then, briefly tell why you are making your nomination(s)
  • Be sure to clearly indicate for each nomination whether it is for:
  • Legends of the IRL
  • Or, a 2023 MRC Conservation Award/and the category
  • We will confirm your nomination with you with a reply email.

Make your nominations for one of two awards:
  • Legends of the Indian River Lagoon (The IRL hall of fame)
  • Those that should longest be remembered
  • 2023 MRC Conservation Awards
  • 6 Categories: For Outstanding Service to the Indian River Lagoon

For 20 years, Marine Resources Council has annually presented its Conservation Awards. Be sure to nominate people who have done not only great work, but those who are greatly inspirational.
Last year, MRC introduced Legends of the IRL: Those that should longest be remembered, the IRL hall of fame. Legends will be joining these inaugural inductees:

  • Dr. Duane De Freese
  • Jonathan Dickinson
  • Maggy Hurchalla
  • Dr. Grant Gilmore, Jr.

Executive Director Search Update
The deadline to apply for the MRC Executive Director position was July 28. The MRC Board of Directors Executive Search Committee is working with Columns Fundraising, which was hired to manage the process, in selecting top candidates. We received many applications from candidates with a wide variety of backgrounds and locations, and will be holding interviews soon.
