Progress on New Animal Shelter for Yolo County!
Recently, the Board of Supervisors formally entered into a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) with the cities of Davis, Winters and Woodland. The purpose of the JPA is to develop plans to build a new animal shelter. The cost will be shared by the cities and the county. The Cities of West Sacramento and UC Davis are participating as observers but may join later.

Board Chair Gary Sandy and I represent Yolo County on the JPA.

My vision is a state-of-the-art shelter that adopts best practices, including zero kill of animals, incorporation of vet services from UC Davis and a research component. I am committed to building a modern full-service shelter. After a series of meetings, the JPA will report to the Board and the city councils.
