Dear Friends,

October has been a busy month for the Washington Canoe Club - and we are not slowing down! I’m reaching out to share some exciting updates and progress regarding the Boathouse Rehabilitation Campaign.

Since our last update earlier this month, the Club has raised an additional $65K for our rehabilitation project; bringing our total raised to $313K! We’re thrilled to have the enthusiasm and support of so many Club members!

I’m also excited to share the following renovation project updates:

  • The Club has heard from the National Park Service regarding our proposed document submitted in August. We addressed all their questions in a timely manner.
  • WCC/NPS have submitted the concept level documentation package to the National Capital Park and Planning Commission for consideration at its December meeting.
  • The Committee had a very productive call with Old Georgetown Board (OGB) and Commission on Fine Arts (CFA) staff in preparation for us to submit our revised proposal to OGB for discussion at their November meeting. We included some additional information at staffs’ request.
  • We have begun meeting with various engineers and technical consultants to walk-through the Boathouse and get their analyses. WCC’s architectural team will use this information as they prepare construction drawings.
  • Club representatives recently met with Georgetown ANC Commissioner Mimsy Lindner. She will introduce a resolution to support WCC’s rehabilitation project at the next ANC meeting.
  • The Club plans to submit construction drawings to NPS in February/March 2025 before NPS sends them to review agencies.

And don’t forget to visit the Boathouse Rehabilitation Campaign page for the latest updates, to make an online donation, see the list of our generous supporters, and learn more about how you can help ensure WCC’s legacy on the Potomac lives on.

Thank You!

Andrew Soles,
