Issue #1 |  March 2020
Hello to the GHS parent/guardian community,

In this rapidly moving and uncertain time it is even more vital that we stay connected. I am delighted to introduce this new weekly newsletter that will give everyone a glimpse of the ever evolving and complex school work that your children are engaging in with their teachers each day. Consider this newsletter a quick love letter, one that shares highlights of the week just coming to a close and providing ideas for ongoing ways to support one another as we experience school away from school. We have never been farther apart physically but the connection between GHS faculty and staff and children and you their adults is stronger than ever. We may be separated in our own homes but we are in this together as a community.

Our first video for GHS adults that I want to share is a conversation I recorded with Sharif Williams, GHS's Student Support Counselor on ways we might talk with kids of all ages about difficult news and topics.

Greene Hill Embarks on Distance Learning
Amazing learning is happening throughout the GHS community right now. Going quickly from a hypothetical notion of future distance learning to launching this Monday, teachers have developed creative lessons aligned with GHS's progressive practice.  How do you offer "hands-on" learning from afar and how do we support the whole child in this work? This was week one of learning at home and we could not be prouder of our community for finding a multitude of ways to do just that.

GHS is excited to showcase distance learning in pictures and videos, completed at home and facilitated by teachers. This week we are sharing a few images from throughout our community.

Check out the Team Teacher's Google Sites

This week we want to highlight the learning happening in our "specials."  Art, music, movement and Spanish classes are continuing for all grades and these teachers have made fun filled google sites complete with activities, demonstrations and challenges.  Inspiration is all around us.

Thank You for a Wonderful Greene Affair Auction

Many thanks to all who came together to make the Greene Affair auction a success. Co-chairs Reshma and Heather along with the planning committee and lots of parent volunteers were ready to host a gala and then, quickly and successfully pivoted to run a wonderful online only auction that raised $18,000 to support Greene Hill.

Resources for Reading

GHS is compiling an ongoing list of articles and other sorts of resources that might be of interest to our community. Below are two articles with tips on how to work from home with children.
