A Look at  Progressive Builders Three 1st Place Local Chapter CotY Awards

Progressive Builders has been honored by National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) Tampa Bay Chapter winning three Contractor of the Year (CotY) awards in three separate categories. The winning projects include a lively outdoor kitchen, a contemporary waterfront home renovation, and a Bonita Springs master bathroom that needed a splash of color. Progressive Builders’ CotY wins are for the Southeast region of the U.S.

“It is a distinct honor to receive first place Local Chapter Contractor of the Year awards from NARI – in three categories no the less - and it is particularly gratifying to be recognized by our industry peers,” said Dave Wherry, Marketing Director and Project Consultant for Progressive Builders. “We have a fabulous team here at Progressive Builders who care deeply about helping our clients through a smooth remodeling process. These awards are a direct reflection of our team’s commitment to our process and the craft—and how we ensure every project meets our client's needs exactly. This award certainly makes all of us feel proud.”

Hardwood vs. Wood-Look Tile: Choosing the Best Flooring for Your Home
Flooring is one of the most important considerations when taking on a home remodel. Fortunately, it’s an exciting time for homeowners when it comes to choosing materials. Every season brings new products to the interior design market, so the selections in flooring, fixtures, tile and other finishings are practically endless.

Several years ago, the market introduced wood-look tile. Since then, manufacturers have honed the technology and production process - with some astonishing results. Nowadays, it’s nearly impossible to tell the difference between wood-look tile and natural hardwood.

Opting for wood-look tile over real wood can be a great option for homeowners, depending on your style, location, and your budget. However, there are some key differences between hardwood and wood-look tile to consider before you go shopping. Here are some pros and cons to help you decide whether hardwood or wood-look tile is right for you.
Updating an Outdoor Kitchen in Bonita Springs for Opulent Entertainment
Here in Florida, we’re blessed with great weather year-round. So it’s no surprise that outdoor entertaining areas are an extremely popular way to enhance outdoor living. When our clients requested an update to their existing outdoor kitchen while they were away on vacation, we were ready to hit the ground running. While their beautiful 2-story home on a golf course had a pool and covered lanai area, the existing outdoor kitchen just didn’t function well for their needs.

Mainly, they craved additional counter space and more seating. And, as avid football fans, with a son playing on a renown Division 1 college team, they also wanted a large screen TV to watch games. After all, what better way to share game day excitement than at a barbecue with family and friends?
Meet Kevin Bomlitz, Progressive Builders' New Lead Carpenter
Born and raised in Central Ohio, Kevin picked up and moved to Cape Coral, FL in August 2016 after retiring his wife’s family’s business of twenty-six years. With a life-long professional career and passion in construction, Kevin couldn’t sit idle after moving to Florida. It wasn’t long before he found Progressive Design Build in a job search—a perfect fit.

In his new role as Lead Carpenter, Kevin fosters an environment of teamwork and works hard to ensure that strategy is clearly defined while overseeing performance. His strong communication skills and client-centric focus, combined with his love of cabinetry and trim work and knack for jumping in to get his hands dirty, enhance Progressive Design Build’s process-driven management philosophy.

After two years of active duty in the Navy, Kevin spent most of his career working as a laborer and construction superintendent for a LEED-certified general contractor in Columbus Ohio managing several large commercial construction projects. He also worked as a heavy construction equipment operator for seven years with the Naval Construction Battalion.

When asked what excites him about his work with Progressive Design Build and the contribution he can make, Kevin replied, “I love creating and working with my hands. I love meeting people, and helping them through the construction process.”
When it comes to volunteering, Kevin gives to St. Jude's, Boys and Girls Clubs of America,
Volunteers of America, and the Church Health Center. He loved his church back home, which was full of outreach programs that impact people worldwide. With a new home in Cape Coral, Kevin and his wife are looking to make a similar footprint in their new community.

When Kevin isn’t working you will find him spending weekends with his wife and two dogs. Weather permitting, he enjoys relaxing on his boat and kayaking, and taking bike rides around Sanibel or the Cape.
