SAN MATEO COUNTY — Caltrans will soon begin a series of improvements at the intersection of State Route 35 (Skyline Boulevard) and State Route 84 (La Honda Road), commonly known as the Four Corners Intersection. Work is expected to begin in late September and anticipated to continue through Spring 2027.
Construction on the Four Corners Intersection includes:
- Enhancing pavement striping and lane delineation throughout the intersection.
- Installing all-way STOP pavement markings.
- Converting the intersection to all-way STOP control with new stop signs.
- Upgrading existing warning signs and adding new warning signs where appropriate.
- Installing Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) at the pedestrian crossing on SR-35 just north of the intersection.
Together, these improvements are intended to enhance safety for motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists while improving traffic in mountain intersections.
As construction takes place, motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations throughout the project corridor. Additional impacts may include minor delays due to equipment staging, as well as reduced parking during construction.
Additional information and work schedules will be shared with the public in advance of construction activities.
