The Parks & Recreation Department is advancing work on the area designated for pollinator habitat near Cedar Valley Park, as part of the City's agreement with Cargill associated to the railyard project.
The area is being temporarily referred to as "Valley Park," due to its close proximity to Cedar Valley Park. The Parks & Recreation Department will consult with the public on an official name for this area at a future date.
Plans for the pollinator habitat establishment are complete and the City has accepted a bid to begin work. The scope of work includes clearing of downed debris, invasive species control, removal of undesirable grasses, and native prairie seeding.

Once pollinator habitat is established, we will be performing yearly maintenance to ensure invasive species are controlled. We will also be mowing in walking trails throughout the property to allow for a pleasant hike.
Our funds for this project are limited, but we hope to establish a small parking area on the property so that users do not need to park alongside a busy road.
Please contact the Parks & Recreation Department with any questions regarding this project.
