Project Update

The Idaho Transportation Department is preparing for construction on I-84 between the South Jerome Interchange (Exit 168) and Twin Falls Interchange (Exit 173). Improvements will widen the interstate from two lanes to three lanes in each direction, increasing capacity and improving safety.

ITD would like to thank all those who participated and provided input during the public meeting over the summer.

Some of the comments we heard include:

  • Support for widening I-84 between South Jerome and Twin Falls
  • Concerns about safety, traffic and merging onto the interstate
  • Suggestions to keep businesses, traffic flow and access in mind during construction

Construction Schedule Update:

Summer 2023 to Spring 2024

  • Build the 400 South eastbound bridge on I-84

Spring 2024 to Early 2025

  • Shift traffic to eastbound I-84 to build the 400 South westbound bridge.
  • Build new westbound lane on I-84

Early 2025 to Fall 2025

  • Shift traffic on westbound I-84 while crews build the eastbound lane
  • Shift traffic back to eastbound I-84 to finish the westbound lanes

Late Fall 2025

  • All work complete

ITD will communicate with the public early next year to share more information about construction.
