Greetings!
Eversource and its contractors have resumed construction on the 115-kilovolt (kV) Underground Transmission Line Project at several locations in Hudson and Sudbury. As a reminder, during construction (including after hours and on weekends), Eversource asks people in the area to avoid walking along and crossing the inactive Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) rail corridor. Construction is not expected to interrupt electric service.
Work Hours
Approved work hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday but crews are working from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Occasional work may extend beyond the approved hours, due to unforeseen conditions like weather, based on feedback from Town staff.
Below is an overview of the active and upcoming work zones in Hudson and Sudbury.
Hudson
-
In the inactive MBTA rail corridor, from Wilkins Street to Parmenter Road, crews are removing rails and ties, grading the limits of work (moving soils), and starting to install sediment and erosions controls in specific segments. Between Parmenter Road and White Pond Road, crews will begin installing cable vaults (manholes) -- MH12 starting next week and MH13 the following week at the end of January. Please view the Project Map for details on the location of these cable vaults in the inactive MBTA corridor.
-
Off Forest Avenue, on Hudson Light & Power property a crew is installing a small hand hole that will be used to access the new transmission line once installed. Active construction will NOT occur on Forest Avenue until Spring 2023.
Sudbury
-
In the inactive MBTA rail corridor, between the Sudbury Substation (163 Boston Post Road) and Bridge 127, crews are installing sediment and erosion controls and are starting to remove rails and ties.
-
In the inactive MBTA rail corridor, between the Town line and Bridge 128, crews began clearing vegetation recently and will move east toward the Sudbury Substation with the clearing effort over the coming weeks. Please view the Project Map for details on the locations of these crews in the inactive MBTA corridor.
