Project Update: Beach View Park Improvements

Notice Date: Monday, May 11, 2026

What's Happening?

Work on the Beach View Park improvement project continues to move forward. The contractor has now completed all demolition and pre‑construction activities, removing outdated structures, clearing designated areas and preparing the site for new amenities.

On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, the Beachwalk entrance within parking lot P72 at 5301 Collins Ave will be inaccessible from approximately 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. due to scheduled tree‑relocation operations. The contractor will be relocating four trees located outside the construction fence, requiring this short‑term closure to ensure safe operations. With initial site preparation now complete, construction crews will begin relocating the previously tagged trees, balancing the preservation of existing landscape features with the requirements of the new park design.

Additionally, construction personnel will mobilize on site to proceed with the installation of the new playground material and outdoor exercise equipment. For the safety of residents and visitors, the park will remain closed for the duration of the construction phase. Temporary fencing and signage will be in place to secure the site until all improvements are completed.

Please note that the shade structure is not shown in the renderings, as the project will use the existing structure.

Timeline

This project began in March 2026 and is anticipated to take approximately 8 months to complete. Work hours are Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Please know that this schedule may change due to weather and/or other unforeseen circumstances.

  • Parking lot P72 will remain accessible during the course of construction.
  • Select parking spaces within parking lot P72 will be temporarily closed for equipment staging.
  • The construction zone will be enclosed by fencing, which may affect adjacent sidewalks.
