Site Prep Work Has Begun on the Century Boulevard Extension Project

The project’s contractor has mobilized and begun site prep work under a right-of-way permit issued by the City of Hillsboro.

The project's right-of-way permit allows the contractor to trim and top trees, install signs, and locate utilities within the existing roadway.

Erosion control measures and ground-disturbing activities are anticipated to begin once an Erosion Control Permit (1200C) has been issued.

Traffic Impacts

Expect occasional delays while the contractor moves equipment. No lane or road closures are planned at this time.

About the Project

The Century Boulevard Extension Project creates a new route between north and south Hillsboro, improving safety and mobility for travelers, neighbors, and Noble Woods Park-goers.

The project includes:

Installing a new long-span bridge over Rock Creek, connecting Century Boulevard between Lois and Main Street
Realigning Century Boulevard, between Lois and Borwick streets
Building enhanced street crossings with flashing beacons for safer access to transit, schools and parks at:
Borwick Street
Dogwood Street
Oelrich Street
Adding improved sidewalks, bike lanes, streetlights and storm drains
Building a new center lane to allow drivers and cyclists to wait to turn more safely
Creating an improved flood overflow channel using materials sourced on site
Removing invasive plant species to improve the wetland habitat
Planting hundreds of native trees and shrubs in coordination with Hillsboro Parks & Recreation District and Clean Water Services
