Project Update: Force Main Replacement Along Pine Tree Drive

Notice Date: Friday, June 12, 2026

What's Happening

Crews have completed the installation of all sewer pipes, required connections and performed sidewalk restoration. The contractor is in the process of restoring the area to pre-existing conditions, including roadway, curb, gutter, landscaping and irrigation.

During the week of June 15, crews will be onsite performing roadway milling and resurfacing. While some work may occur during regular work hours, the major roadway construction will begin after 7 p.m. and continue overnight to reduce traffic impacts while these operations are underway. Access to all properties within the construction area will remain available throughout the work period.

The contractor may temporarily close select parking spaces on Pine Tree Drive to support this operation. Please follow all posted signage throughout the corridor.

Traffic Changes

As work advances into the next phases, lane closures will continue to shift periodically on both the north and south sides of the bridge on Pine Tree Drive near 51 Street. These adjustments are necessary to maintain safe conditions for construction crews while keeping traffic moving through the area.

All lanes are anticipated to be fully reopened by the end of July 2026. Please know that this schedule may change due to weather and/or other unforeseen circumstances.

Timeline

The project is expected to reach substantial completion by the end of July 2026, at which point most contractor equipment and vehicles will be removed from the work area and the roadway will be largely restored. Final completion is expected in August 2026, when all restoration activities are finished and the area is returned to its pre‑construction condition.

Work hours are weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with additional time subject to approval and community notification. Please know that schedules may change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • Lane closures will be temporarily implemented during each phase of construction.
  • Residents will have continuous access to their driveways throughout the project.
  • Moderate levels of construction noise are expected during the day.
  • Construction equipment, machinery and workers will be present on the job site.

Project Overview & Benefits

The City of Miami Beach is replacing aging sewer mains on the Pine Tree Drive bridge between 49 and 51 Streets with two subaqueous sewer lines. These pipes are deemed critical in the city's Sewer Master Plan and are in poor condition, having surpassed their useful life. This project will improve the overall efficiency and reliability of our system.
