Starting Tuesday, July 21, crews will begin sidewalk improvements in stages on both the east and west sides of Meridian Avenue between Lincoln Road and 17 Street. Please refer to the map to further understand how to navigate through the project work zone.
Stage I of the sidewalk improvements will include closing the sidewalk between Lincoln Road and Lincoln Lane North (east side only), closing sidewalk adjacent to Macy’s on Meridian Avenue, and the addition of a pedestrian crossing that will connect the east and west sides of Meridian Avenue (see map for further clarification). Both the north and south crosswalks at the intersection of Lincoln Road and Meridian Avenue will be open to pedestrians.
Timeline
The installation of the new sidewalk will be done in three stages, with future stages shared in forthcoming updates. This work will continue through September 2026.
What to Expect
On the east side of Meridian Avenue, the sidewalk between Lincoln Road and Lincoln Lane North will be closed while crews complete sidewalk improvements. Additionally, pedestrians should expect temporary partial sidewalk closures adjacent to 1680–1688 Meridian Avenue on the west side of Meridian and 1675 Meridian Avenue on the east side of Meridian Avenue, between Lincoln Lane North and 17 Street, while crews widen the sidewalks and install new pavers.
Clearly marked pedestrian detours, directional signage, and a temporary crosswalk will be in place to help pedestrians safely navigate the work zone and maintain access to nearby businesses. Pedestrian access, and entrances to all businesses will remain open and accessible throughout the duration of the project. Any direct impact to entrances will be coordinated with each individual business.
Access to City parking lots will also be maintained at all times. Valet and ride-share operations will continue without interruption at Meridian Avenue and Lincoln Lane South.
Project Progress Status
Water, sanitary sewer and force main work are nearly complete. Final approvals from the County and State agencies are still pending before the new systems can be fully connected to the City’s infrastructure. Crews are now commencing above-ground work such as sidewalks, lighting, landscaping and irrigation.
