Project Update

The Venetian Causeway water and sewer main upgrades continue to progress. The project team will be working on multiple segments concurrently.

The contractor has completed installing the water control devices beneath Venetian Way on San Marco Island. Pipe testing is now in progress and will require temporary traffic adjustments during this period.

Work hours

The contractor will continue daily operations from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Substantial completion of the project is expected by early summer 2026, with final completion anticipated by late summer 2026. Between substantial and final completion, the community may experience minor road closures related to final project activities.

The above noted schedule and work hours are subject to change due to weather and/or other unforeseen circumstances.

Project Overview

This construction project is replacing the aerial water and sewer main crossings on the Causeway, which run along the north and south sides of the Venetian bridges. These pipes were in poor condition and were ranked as the top priority in the Water & Sewer Renewal and Replacement Report’s list of critical assets.

The work includes installing four new water mains and two new sewer mains using horizontal directional drilling (HDD) to replace the existing lines connecting San Marco, San Marino, Di Lido, Rivo Alto and Dade Boulevard. Once completed, the upgraded system will provide the increased flow capacity needed to support the city’s growing demand.
