West Avenue Phase II Project Timeline Update

Notice Date: September 21, 2026

What's Happening

The project team wants to share a general update on the anticipated timeline for Segments 2 and 3 of the West Avenue Neighborhood Improvements Project.

The anticipated completion of Segments 2 and 3 has shifted due in part to the coordination, testing and review required for individual private-property drainage connections within the construction area. Miami-Dade County’s environmental agency, the Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources (DRER), continues to work with the project team to expedite its review of the required reports to allow upcoming roadway work to move forward.

Road raising and harmonization are expected to proceed in the following sequence:

  • Lincoln Court north of Lincoln Road: beginning November 1 and lasting about 25 working days. During this work the Lincoln Court pedestrian bridge is expected to be closed while the contractor rebuilds the bridge landing.
  • Bay Road north of Lincoln Road: approximately 25 working days
  • Lincoln Road: to follow with the duration still being finalized

As this work begins, residents and businesses should expect:

  • Significant truck activity as material is delivered to raise the roadway
  • Roadway elevation work and harmonization between the public roadway and adjacent private properties
  • Installation of an initial layer of asphalt as work progresses
  • New landscaping as the work in each area advances

We continue to work with the contractor on the construction sequence and ways to expedite work and minimize impacts to residents and businesses. Based on the current sequence and anticipated durations Segments 2 and 3 are now expected to be complete in spring 2027.

Here are a few other quick updates on what to expect in the coming weeks:

  • Drainage work continues on Lincoln Road.
  • The contractor anticipates beginning stormwater drainage installation on West Avenue south of Lincoln Road next week. Expect increased construction activity and construction vehicles in this area.
  • Work also continues on 16 Street along with utility coordination throughout the active construction area.
