West Avenue Phase II Project Update

What's Happening

The West Avenue Phase II project continues to advance, with several key milestones reached and new construction activities beginning across the corridor. Below is a summary of recent progress, upcoming work, and coordination efforts that may affect travel, utilities, and private property connections.


  • Sanitary sewer installation on 16 Street will continue over the next couple of weeks. The sewer pipe installation is proceeding in phases, and each phase includes multiple private property connections. The project team will notify affected properties as schedules and impacts are confirmed.
    
  • Regulatory Coordination with DERMSeveral properties were recently identified with unpermitted drainage connections requiring regulatory review. The City of Miami Beach and the project team continue to work with DERM (Miami-Dade County’s environmental regulatory agency) to address these concerns, coordination is ongoing. Updates will be shared as more information becomes available.

It outlines ongoing and upcoming construction activities, including where crews are expected to be working and what type of work will be performed. 


Below is a simplified summary of anticipated work in Segments 1, 2, and 3 through June 14, 2026.


Segment 1 

(Pump Station, West Avenue next to the post office)

  • Electrical work inside the FPL vault
  • Mobilizing for site work, base preparation and layout
  • 17 Street generator conduit installation
  • Pending generator delivery (17 Street and West Ave)
    

Segment 2 
(West Avenue between the post office and just south of Lincoln Road; Lincoln Road between Alton Road and the bay; and the Bay Road and Lincoln Court street ends)

  • Water quality well construction (Lincoln Road, east of Bay Road)
  • Signal foundation installation (Lincoln Rd. and West Ave. intersection)


Segment 3 

(West Avenue from just south of Lincoln Rd. to 16 St.; and 16 St. between Alton Rd. and Bay Rd.):

  • Water quality well piping installation (16 Street, east of West Ave.)
  • Sanitary sewer installation (West Ave, north of 16 St, and 16 St, east of West Ave)
  • Sanitary sewer testing (16 Street, west of West Ave.)
    

Tree Removals

Tree removals throughout Segments 2 and 3 will continue as needed. As a reminder, the contractor previously tagged trees for removal in preparation for upcoming drainage installation work and harmonization efforts.
