What’s Happening

Please be advised of the following upcoming construction activities and associated parking and traffic impacts in your area:

Monday, April 20 through Monday, May 16: The Fire Flow Package (FFP) contractors are continuing water main installation, performing asphalt trench restoration, and road base installation in various areas. The first coat of asphalt will be applied to minimize dust before progressing to the next section. The final coat of asphalt will be applied upon project completion for a unified finish. Work will be done in the following areas:

Monday, April 20 to Monday, May 4

• 10 Street, Meridan Ave. to Pennsylvania Ct.
  

Monday, April 27 to Friday, May 16

• 20 Street east of Collins Ave. 

Please be advised that nighttime construction work on 20 Street will resume on Monday, April 27, and is expected to continue for approximately three weeks. The nighttime construction schedule includes weeknights, Monday – Friday: 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. 

A noise waiver permit has been issued by the City, and all necessary measures are being implemented to minimize impacts to nearby businesses and residents. 

Additionally, sidewalks and curb concrete repair work continues in the following area listed below. Please expect sidewalks closures and restricted parking for a full 24-hours as the concrete dries. Access to residences will be coordinated with construction crews. Replacement of lighting poles will also be underway, and temporary on-street lighting outages may occur during the switchover process. Please exercise caution when walking in the area at night.

• 12 Street, Meridan Ave. to Pennsylvania Ave.

Water Main Testing Notice

Testing of the newly installed water main is ongoing and requires small taps of running water. Please do not touch, turn off or tamper with these taps. These tests are required by the Florida Department of Health and must run their full course without interruption. If stopped, the contractors (Amici Engineering Contractors and Metro Equipment Service. Inc) would need to restart the process, which would cause delays. This testing is an important step to ensure the water system is safe and ready for use. Please refer to the maps below for location details.  

Projects Overview

The FFPs are critical infrastructure upgrade projects, designed to enhance the reliability and safety of the local water distribution system. The projects include upsizing existing water mains and installing new water connections to address areas that currently do not meet required fire flow standards.

Please be advised:

For FFP 1, parking will be temporarily unavailable on the north side of 10 Street, between Meridian Ave. and Pennsylvania Ct. from April 20 through May 4, due to ongoing infrastructure work. Parking will be prohibited Monday through Sunday. Parking spaces will become available as work is completed in each area. Please see map herein (above) for details on the impacted parking locations.

For FFP 2, parking will be temporarily unavailable on both sides of 12 Street, between Meridian Ave. and Pennsylvania Ave. from April 20 through May 4, and on both sides of 20 Street, east of Collins Ave. from April 27 to May 16, due to ongoing infrastructure work. Parking will be prohibited Monday through Sunday. Parking spaces will become available as work is completed in each area. Please see map herein (below) for details on the impacted parking locations.

In addition to the parking restrictions, full road closures will also be implemented at times in these areas. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes around the work zones and follow all posted detours.

These restrictions are necessary to facilitate essential improvements and ensure public safety. All individuals are encouraged to seek alternate parking and adhere to posted signage to avoid enforcement measures.

Construction Timeline

Construction work is ongoing, Mondays through Fridays. Work hours range from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. (unless otherwise stated). Any extended work hours or weekend work required is subject to city approval and community notification.

What to Expect

• Moderate levels of construction noise are expected during the day.
• Equipment and container storage will be limited to designated areas.
• Machinery and workers will be present on the job site. Residents are advised to use caution when crews are present and to follow all posted signage.
• Pedestrian and traffic detours will be implemented as needed for safety.
• All efforts are being made to minimize impacts to area residents and businesses.
• Restoration activities will take place upon the project’s completion and will address areas impacted by the construction.
• If you have a private parking space that you cannot access during construction, please contact us with your vehicle details (make, model, color, tag) to make arrangements for alternate parking during construction.
• Work schedule may change due to inclement weather or unexpected conditions.
