RENDERINGS SHOW FOXCONN'S ADVANCED MANUFACTURING FACILITY

On Monday,
renderings
were released showing plans for Foxconn Technology Group's initial Mount Pleasant advanced manufacturing facility.
|
|
Documents show manufacturing and assembly operations on the first level, with offices planned for a second floor. In total, the building footprint for this initial phase is planned to cover nearly 20 acres of land. The Village of Mount Pleasant Plan Commission is set to consider the building design on Wednesday.

FOXCONN RELEASED FOUR BID PACKAGES FOR MANUFACTURING PLANT
|
|
Foxconn Technology Group released four new
bid packages
recently for work on its advanced manufacturing facility in the Village of Mount Pleasant.
This latest package includes the following invitations to bid -
- Bid Release 3c - Power Substation (PSS) Update: The invitation to bid has been revised to note that the bid package 26C duct bank work has been pushed to a future release.
- Bid Release 5a - Fabrication Facility - Building Enclosure: This bid release includes the building enclosure packages for the construction of the Fabrication Facility.
- Bid Release 5b - Fabrication Facility - Civil and Landscaping: This bid release includes duct bank, excavation, site concrete, asphalt, landscaping, excavation and site utilities.
- Bid Release 5c - Northeast Master Plan Civil Work: This bid release includes the masterplan subdivision security (guard house), lighting, landscape, signage and telecom raceway for all private utilities in the northeast quadrant of the site.
- Bid Release 5e - Delegated Design Buildings and Systems: This bid release includes the turn-key design build packages for specialty buildings that support the fabrication building operations.
Bid documents will be available on July 8, 2019 and a pre-bid conference and matchmaking session will be held on July 17, 2019 at Gateway Technical College (2320 Renaissance Blvd, Sturtevant).

GATEWAY, FOXCONN STRESS FUTURE
WITH ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

“The future of industrial artificial intelligence will share the workplace and redefine the knowledge and skills required in the global competition for jobs,” said Jay Lee, senior vice chairman for Foxconn’s Industrial Internet and the conference's keynote speaker. “Gateway and Foxconn are partnering to provide career paths that support an advanced manufacturing ecosystem.”
Lee also noted that Gateway has been at the forefront of Manufacturing 4.0 — the next generation of production training — and has already begun training people to fill jobs in this new type of manufacturing. He stressed the importance of training people who will become valuable, knowledgeable employees in the new manufacturing process.

JUDGE RULES IN FAVOR OF RACINE'S BID TO PROVIDE WATER TO MOUNT PLEASANT TID 5

A Wisconsin administrative law judge has
ruled in favor
of the City of Racine's straddling community diversion application, requesting to divert water from Lake Michigan to supply developments and residents in Mount Pleasant TID 5.
"
We are pleased with the decision," said Mount Pleasant Village President David DeGroot.
"
This diversion will support broader I-94 corridor development, creating even more Racine County jobs, patrons and residents
. It will enable us to provide clean, reliable, safe water to the residents and businesses that will locate to this area, and the thousands of workers they will employ. This will benefit the entire region,
enabling jobs and economic development
throughout the I-94 corridor,
while ensuring that our area’s greatest natural resource is protected
."
