AERIAL IMAGES SHOW FOXCONN CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS
Progress continues on Foxconn Technology Group's advanced manufacturing campus in the Village of Mount Pleasant . As seen in the Milwaukee Business Journal, new aerial images show construction progress, including the foundation and footing work begun in June.

FOXCONN ANNOUNCES $15M IN CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS
On July 31, Foxconn and its construction manager Gilbane | Exyte announced another round of bid awards to eight subcontractors located throughout Wisconsin. The combined total contract value for this bid package exceeds $15 million.

Subcontractors included in this round of awards include:
  • GESTRA Engineering, Inc. - Milwaukee
  • CD Smith Construction - Fond du Lac
  • Spancrete, Inc. - Waukesha
  • Daigle Brothers, Inc - Tomahawk
  • Lee Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors Inc. - Kenosha
  • Staff Electric Co. Inc. - Menomonee Falls
  • Morse Electric Inc. - Beloit
  • Brightview Landscape Development - Milwaukee

To-date, the value of all subcontractor awards totals more than $175 million .

Foxconn and Gilbane | Exyte also r ecently issued the next round of invitations to bid on packages set to support construction of the nearly 1,000,000 square-foot advanced manufacturing facility . Included in this most recent round of bid packages, known as #5a, #5b, & #5c, are requests for roofing systems, overhead doors, coiling doors, dock equipment, roadway lighting, asphalt paving, curb and gutter work, metal panels, siding, and louvers.

RACINE TO HOST SMART CITIES
EVENTS IN SEPTEMBER
As reported by the Racine Journal Times , City of Racine Mayor Cory Mason will be hosting several events in a series called "Smart City September," where he will celebrate innovation, answer questions, brainstorm ideas and reintroduce Racine as a center of innovation.

“Innovation hasn’t stopped, it continues to occur and we plan on building on that innovation that’s happened here for a long time,” Mason said. “Innovation continues in this community and we want to celebrate the role that businesses play here locally in shaping tomorrow’s technology.”

"It's clear that Racine County and the City of Racine are leading the way for Wisconsin embracing technology and preparing the region to compete in the digital economy," Racine County Executive Jonathan Delagrave said during a press conference announcing the events.

FOXCONN TO BUILD NORTH AMERICAN HQ FOR COMPANY'S INDUSTRIAL INTERNET BRANCH IN RACINE COUNTY
Recently, Foxconn Technology Group and its contractors released a Request For Proposal (RFP) inviting companies to bid for work on another building on the company's Mount Pleasant advanced manufacturing campus.

The work outlined in the RFP relates to the construction of a building to house the North American headquarters of Foxconn Industrial Internet (Fii) , the industrial internet arm of the company.

As reported by the Milwaukee Business Journal , Fii "focuses on automation and networking systems for intelligent manufacturing. Internationally, the company has 3,736 patents that include tech to make smartphone components and internet of things tech to automate manufacturing processes."

ADVOCATE AURORA GROUNDBREAKING PLANNED FOR SEPTEMBER
The Mount Pleasant Village Board recently approved an agreement to encourage additional commercial development along Highway 20 where the new Advocate Aurora Health medical center will be built.

The $228 million medical center will be constructed on an 86-acre site close to I-94 and Highway 20. Construction is expected to begin in September, with a grand opening anticipated in early 2022 .

UPDATE TO VILLAGE FOXCONN BRIEFINGS

Moving forward, Village of Mount Pleasant Project Director Claude Lois will provide updates on the Foxconn project as part of the Village Board meeting on the fourth Monday of each month . The briefing will provide an opportunity for Village Board members and members of the community to learn more about the latest construction-related updates for the project.
