FOXCONN TO BREAK GROUND ON
ADVANCED MANUFACTURING CAMPUS
PHASE OF WISCONN VALLEY SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY PARK
Foxconn Technology Group announced Monday the next steps in construction of its Gen6 advanced manufacturing facility in the Wisconn Valley Science and Technology Park in Racine County. The next phase of construction will begin by Summer 2019 and the facility will begin production in the 4th Quarter of 2020 .

The initial Gen6 facility will manufacture LCD screens for use in a variety of product applications, including vertical solutions for industries such as education, medical and healthcare, entertainment and sports, security, and smart cities.

Foxconn will be taking several key steps in the coming weeks. By April 1, Foxconn will announce the awards for two bid packages:
  • Bid Package 3A – Site Utilities
  • Bid Package 3B – Site Roadways and Associated Storm Drainage
In addition, Foxconn will be issuing initial bid packages for construction of the Gen6 fabrication facility and ancillary buildings in May 2019.

TO NEXT PHASE OF CONSTRUCTION
The following statements were issued today regarding Foxconn’s plans for the construction of a Gen6 advanced manufacturing plant in the Wisconn Valley Science and Technology Park in Racine County, Wisconsin.
President David DeGroot, Village of Mount Pleasant:
“This is a great day for Mount Pleasant. Soon, more employees will be coming to work right here in our great Village, manufacturing LCD displays for industries including healthcare, education and smart cities. I look forward to continuing to see the project site transformed as it becomes a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.”   

County Executive Jonathan Delagrave, Racine County:
“Today’s announcement sets in motion a tremendous amount of momentum. Foxconn will be manufacturing in Racine County – and soon. I am encouraged by and look forward to this next phase of continued growth and investment by Foxconn in our community.”

ON SMART CITIES INITIATIVES
Today, City of Racine Mayor Cory Mason, alongside Foxconn leadership, announced a Memorandum of Understanding between the City and the company, enabling the pursuit of public-private partnerships to accelerate a shared vision for Racine as a "Smart City."

“Racine’s history is rooted in innovation. We are inventors, builders, and doers. To be successful in the 21st century and continue to innovate, we have to anticipate the needs of future entrepreneurs and create an environment that will attract innovators to the City of Racine ,” said Mayor Mason.  

“This initiative speaks to the core of what Foxconn is all about, and this partnership will cement a lasting legacy for the next generation of innovators in the City of Racine and beyond . I am excited to see projects get off the ground and start to take shape. I have no doubt that we will soon see some exciting stories of creativity, discovery, and success that will positively shape the future of Racine and Wisconsin as a whole,” said Dr. Louis Woo, special assistant to the Foxconn Chairman and CEO.

SECOND ROUND WINNERS OF "SMART CITIES - SMART FUTURES" COMPETITION ANNOUNCED
Recently, Foxconn Technology Group announced winners of the second round of the "Smart Cities - Smart Futures" competition at Gateway Technical College's S.C. Johnson iMET Center.

The company recognized 30 ideas submitted by students, faculty and staff representing Carroll University, Concordia University, Gateway Technical College, the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee School of Engineering, UW-Eau Claire, UW-Green Bay, UW-Madison, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Platteville and UW-Whitewater, among others.

The 30 winners will receive $1,500 to further develop their projects, and will move on to the third and final found of the competition.

VILLAGE HOSTED MONTHLY
FOXCONN BRIEFING ON MARCH 18
On Monday, March 18, the Village of Mount Pleasant hosted a monthly Foxconn Project Briefing at Mount Pleasant Village Hall.

These meetings are designed to offer interested community members the opportunity to hear directly from Village officials and project partners about the latest Foxconn-related updates and activities and ask questions.
