FOXCONN NOW PROJECTED TO BE LARGEST TAXPAYER IN MOUNT PLEASANT
The Village of Mount Pleasant announced on Wednesday that Foxconn is now projected to be the largest taxpayer in the Village , starting in 2019.

Based on work done recently by the Village Assessor, the lands conveyed by the Village to Foxconn in Area I are collectively assessed at $57,565,400 for 2019, representing a year-over-year net increase in value of $49,210,700 over the same parcels in 2018. While the Village budget and related mill rate will not be set until later this year, based on last year’s mill rate, the company would pay approximately $1,152,324 in property taxes for 2019.

“Since the beginning of this project, we have been confident that this development would be an incredible opportunity for our Village ,” said Mount Pleasant Village President David DeGroot. “Recent assessments show that the Village is beginning to reap the financial benefits of this opportunit y.”

FOXCONN SELECTS CONTRACTORS FOR FAB FACILITY FOUNDATIONS
On Wednesday, Foxconn announced the award of three contracts to Wisconsin-based companies that will commence construction on the foundations of the Gen6 advanced manufacturing facility at the Wisconn Valley Science and Technology Park in Racine County. The contracts carry a combined value of nearly $13 million , and represent the first awards for vertical construction on the manufacturing facility.

Contracts were awarded to the following businesses:
  • PSI Interkek, of Waukesha;
  • CD Smith Construction, of Fond du Lac; and
  • Otis Elevator Company, of Milwaukee.

“Foxconn is very excited to announce the first awards for the vertical construction of the Gen6 advanced manufacturing facility – the heart of the Wisconn Valley Science and Technology Park,” said Peter Buck, Executive Director of the Wisconn Valley Science and Technology Park.

“We’re proud to be delivering on our ‘Wisconsin First’ commitment by awarding these contracts to outstanding Wisconsin-based companies. These are the first of many forthcoming bid awards for the vertical construction of our advanced manufacturing facility, and we’re excited to drive further the construction progress at the Wisconn Valley Science and Technology Park in the coming weeks and months.”

RACINE MAYOR CORY MASON DISCUSSES THE CITY'S "SMART CITY" DESIGNATION
Recently, City of Racine Mayor Cory Mason joined members of the Rotary Club of Milwaukee to discuss the city's recent designation as a "Smart City."

More than 100 cities from the United States, Mexico and Canada competed in the competition, and Racine was one of just five cities chosen. Listen here as Mayor Mason explains what this designation means for Racine and Southeastern Wisconsin.
