Thank You Note from Senior Community Services (SCS)

Five Project W members volunteered to do yard clean up and rake leaves for three senior women living in their homes. Click on the link below to read a sweet thank you note from one of the women.
Winter Wishes

Project W sponsored two families through the Family Support Line Winter Wishes Program. This program was created to provide presents to their clients who are struggling during the holidays to help make them a little bit brighter. Thank you to all who generously donated items for these women-led families and their children who will surely enjoy all of the gifts and treats!
Member Spotlight
Meet Marianne Martin
New Small Grants Committee Co-Chair!
A lifelong resident of Ridley, Marianne has always wanted to contribute to her community in any way she can. When she was invited to join Project W in 2019, she immediately said "Yes!" because she could not think of a better way to help than to support women in need in Delaware County. Marianne believes that women are the backbone of this community; whether single moms struggling to support themselves and their families or women searching for work, healthcare, etc. or simply trying to better themselves and the lives of their families. Marianne is overly amazed by the generosity of time and financial support given by the members of Project W. She sees that the mission of Project W - Women Helping Women - is fulfilled each and every day by the members of this organization.

For the past 39 years, Marianne has been an administrator and life science teacher at various high schools in the area. Not many teachers can count Will Smith (yes, that Will Smith) as one of her students!

Marianne loves to cook and is an avid reader. She also paddles on a Dragon Boat team called Hope Afloat. The team consists of all women who are breast cancer survivors. They compete in local races as well as out of state and country. She once paddled with the team in Florence, Italy.
When asked why Project W should create a new Small Grants focus area, Marianne answered:

"Small organizations often don't have the same resources as larger organizations to compete at the same level for larger grants. They may not have the personnel or specifically the expertise of grant writers to devote to writing a large grant. Smaller organizations may also not have a need for the larger grant to fulfill their needs at the current time. So having a small grant award as an option to smaller organizations makes sense."

Be Part of the Project W Story
Less than 8 cents of every dollar given through organized philanthropy in America is targeted to women. Women can have a significant impact by pooling our resources and recognizing organizations that make a difference for women in Delaware County. In the process, YOU will be in the fellowship of other community-minded women and learn more about the many organizations that enrich and improve our daily lives.

Wishing you all a Happy Holiday and Best Wishes for the year ahead!
