From 1995 to 2025

Project WET empowers, educates, and inspires.

When the Project WET Curriculum and Activity Guide was released in 1995, people watched movies using DVDs (what are those?!), and the internet was just being released to the public. Today, we stream our movies through high-speed internet (that is a water pun!)

For 30 years, Project WET has been here through all the changes.

Our founder, Dennis Nelson, began water education in North Dakota in the 1980s. He spent years building relationships across the U.S. to develop the Project WET Curriculum and Activity Guide.

“The entire process had the fingerprints of thousands of amazing educators representing every state in the USA. We were inclusive and actively sought out input from a wide spectrum of water and education leaders.” -Dennis Nelson

Since those early days, Project WET has progressed to become the global leader in water education. We publish curricula on the latest water topics and challenges, from drought to flooding to stormwater management. Finding solutions to water challenges is more important than ever!

We need your help to move forward into the next 30 years.

“There was a great deal of personal and group pride in contributing activity ideas and knowing that someday educators across the country would be using the activities to help people of all ages learn about water.” -Dennis Nelson

Give $30 today to help us continue educating for another 30 years.

From our roots to today, we continue to inspire communities around the world to value and protect water. Thank you for supporting water education!

With gratitude,
