EMPOWERING A CARING COMMUNITY THAT PROMISES THE WELL-BEING OF EVERY CHILD
March 2020
Welcome back Spring!
I think we can all agree that it brings new life, new energy, and new hope to our days. I would say the same about our community of supporters. When we work together, we have both passion and purpose. We have the power to change lives through collaboration.
Our partnerships help us care for every family. And every child. And every future. From our work to support early childhood mental health, to building community resilience, to early care for our children and families , we're changing the outcome together.
It takes a combination of head and heart to do this work well. And you are such an important part of our team. Thank you for making a difference for children today and for generations to come.
With much gratitude,

Reading Aloud Improves Children's mother-daughters-story.jpg School Readiness
Column in the Litchfield Independent Review

Roses are red, violets are blue
You read to me, and I'll read to you!

Do you enjoy reading aloud? Or were you a young person who sat, dreading being called on to read a selection out loud? There is a simple fix for this problem. Like so many things, it just takes practice. The more you read aloud, the better it goes, whether you're an adult or a young person.

Make it OK is helping educate Iowans and get the conversations going. Start by learning what a mental illness really is. Then, find out what to say and not to say when someone opens up to you.  You can also help others by sharing your own story to help people know they aren't alone.
