I recently came across the campaign brochure that I hand delivered at thousands of doors while canvassing last year at election time. I'm happy to report that at the conclusion of the first session of a new four-year term, I have already accomplished several campaign promises listed in the brochure!.
Two are bills I personally wrote. After passing the House and Senate, they became law because the Governor neither signed nor vetoed them. One is designed to help small businesses and one helps workers:
- Helping Small Businesses Compete - HB34/SB331 - Allows local governments to reduce license fees and paperwork for “brick and mortar” retail businesses. Takes effect October 1, 2019.
- Empowering Workers by Banning Non-Compete Clauses - HB38/SB328 - Encourages economic activity by giving entry-level workers the flexibility to change jobs without fear of being sued. Takes effect October 1, 2019.
I will continue working on the rest of my action plan and welcome your input (see updates below).
