ENTERPRISE ZONE TAX CREDIT

FOR

GIFTS TO YVCF OPERATIONS

YVCF is thrilled to announce that we have been designated by the State of Colorado as a “community contribution project” within the Northwest Colorado Enterprise Zone. Annual donations (cash or stock) of $250 or more to the YVCF General Operating Fund and designated for Economic Development Initiatives may qualify for the Colorado Enterprise Zone Tax Credit.

If you are a Colorado taxpayer and would like your donation to qualify for the Enterprise Zone Tax Credit, make your gift and fill out the EZ Tax Credit Form on our website. Within a week, you will receive a certificate to submit with your Colorado income tax return to receive your credit.

Donations to support our work can be made ONLINE or by mailing a check for YVCF Operations, with "economic development initiatives" written on the memo line.

SNAP BENEFIT DISRUPTION

&

FOOD SECURITY IN THE YAMPA VALLEY

The suspension of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits during the federal government shutdown is causing considerable concern and disruption for nonprofits and government agencies that address hunger and food security in the region.

Six hundred residents of Routt County and 1300 residents of Moffat County receive SNAP benefits for healthy food purchases; in November alone, this equates to $360,000.

In response to the imminent delay in delivery of critical SNAP benefits to individuals and families in Routt and Moffat Counties, YVCF convened government and community agencies to organize a collaborative effort to provide assistance with food and basic need essentials while the SNAP program is paused. In Routt County, Commissioners voted unanimously to approve up to $60,000 from County reserves to fund grocery gift cards for SNAP households which will be distributed by the Department of Human Services.

In Moffat County, Love INC and the Department of Human Services are coordinating to purchase and distribute grocery gift cards purchased with a grant from the Yampa Valley Community Foundation, through generous donations from over 30 donor-advised fundholders. We are incredibly grateful for the donors who contributed funds to cover half of the month's food need and for all of the agencies working together to formulate a distribution system.

How can you help?

Food security is a real, ongoing, and increasing challenge in Northwest Colorado, above and beyond this government shutdown funding disruption. We encourage you to continue, and in fact increase, your support of our local food pantries, LiftUp of Routt County and Love INC of the Yampa Valley, and other programs like the Holiday Food Card Program of United Way of the Yampa Valley and food drives at your place of worship. All of these resources and programs are critical to meet the growing food security needs in Northwest Colorado.

If you would like to stay informed about possible additional philanthropic fundraising efforts in case the government shutdown continues, please email Traci Hiatt.

IMPACT100 SEASON 19

IT'S A WRAP!

Season 19 of IMPACT100 was another fabulous success, with a record $19,000 awarded to the three finalist nonprofit organizations at the final event on October 15 at STARS Ranch.

Advocates of Routt County earned the first-place grant of $10,000 which they will use to upgrade their emergency shelter to better serve families recovering from crisis. Routt County Search and Rescue took home $6,000 and Rocky Mountain Youth Corps won the remaining $3,000.

IMPACT100 is a collective giving program designed to inspire new philanthropists and provide a platform to learn about nonprofits in the Yampa Valley. With a minimum donation of $100, members join a “giving circle,” creating a pool of funding that is collectively granted out. If you're new to philanthropy and want to try it out without a big financial commitment, it's a great way to dip your toes in, all while enjoying complimentary food and drinks at three social & educational events.
