HCSO Newsletter #50 | Promotion & Graduation
Message from Sheriff Ed Gonzalez:

This week, our Sheriff’s Office family experienced a rare combination of hosting both a promotions ceremony and a graduation ceremony in the same week. Both of these occasions illustrate our growing family, and our commitment to growing new leadership from within our agency.

Thursday, our family promoted 44 HCSO personnel to new ranks. These newly elevated leaders have served our agency and communities well and displayed qualities that are in keeping with our five core values. As I stood before them during their promotion ceremony, I stressed the importance of “leading from the front” as opposed to pushing from the back. I’m more than confident that these teammates will do just that in their respective assignments. I congratulate them on their hard-earned achievements and wish them best in their new chapters in life.

Along with the new leaders we promoted, our agency grew on Friday with the swearing in of 20 cadets at our academy. These detention officers have survived and prospered in the rigorous basic county corrections course process headed by our fantastic academy staff – they have earned the badges that now shine on their chests. It’s always an exciting time when our family grows and we welcome in new talent. We wish all of you the best in starting your professional career in law enforcement.

Our District 2 deputies, who primarily patrol the northeast communities of Harris County, were alerted to a tire dumping in progress in the Humble area. Thanks to their quick actions, deputies ultimately arrested and charged three individuals with felony illegal dumping. We will continue to relentlessly combat all forms of crime, especially those that affect our community’s health. Great job by our deputies.

Thank you to all of my teammates for your hard work and commitment to the communities we are tasked with protecting and serving. God bless you, and God bless the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
