Scholars Celebrate Lights On Afterschool
Launched in October 2000, Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide event celebrating afterschool programs and their important roles in the lives of children, families and communities. Our Afterschool Program gives working families peace of mind all while keeping our scholars safe and engaged in learning through activities like science experiments, literacy practice, art classes, physical education and so much more!
All Propel Afterschool sites were #PropelProud to participate in this year's event on October 22 and you can see just how much our scholars enjoyed the celebration of bubbles, dancing, and other exciting activities! Other Propel scholars participated in their very own virtual Youth Town Hall meeting. During the virtual celebration, Propel Schools was honored to hear stories shared from our scholars and out-of-school time partners about how programs like Afterschool has impacted their lives.
Propel Educators Lead In Research Efforts
A cohort of 20 local and regional educators have been chosen by the University of Pittsburgh to play an important role in the design and implementation of innovative equity-focused research that positions Black and Latinx educators as research leaders. Participating educators and researchers will collaborate to share their findings and produce outputs such as specific practices, products, services, processes, technologies, materials, software, data, or other innovations.

Shifting Power in Educational research and Development is a collaboration between Remake Learning and the University of Pittsburgh School of Education - funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation - that aims to shift power dynamics inherent in many research and development (R&D) infrastructures.

Of the 20 educators selected for this one-year initiative, we are honored to announce that five Propel educators that were selected:
