2024 TRIM Notice and Supplement

On August 15th, the Notice of Proposed Property Taxes (also referred to as the Trim Notice) will be mailed to all property and business owners. This notice informs property owners of the proposed values, millage rates, and taxes.

Our new 2024 TRIM Supplement will be mailed alongside the Notice of Proposed Property Tax (Trim Notice). This six (6) panel document is full of valuable information as well as tools and resources available to you!

Taxing Authorities Budget Hearings

The ten (10) Taxing Authorities, who levy taxes against your property, will soon hold PUBLIC HEARINGS to adopt budgets and millage tax rates. These PUBLIC HEARINGS are an opportunity for the general public to ask questions and be informed about the proposed tax changes and budgets before FINAL ACTION is taken. Each Taxing Authority may AMEND OR ALTER its proposals at the hearing. Below is a list of all taxing authorities and their proposed millage rates and whether it is an increase or decrease.

In July, the Martin County Property Appraiser team had the opportunity to speak with RE/MAX of Stuart about TRIM, the recapture rule and many other timely topics.

2024 Preliminary Tax Roll

Florida Department of Revenue (FDOR) approved our 2024 Preliminary Tax Roll submission for Martin County. The FDOR is a State agency responsible for the oversight and in-depth auditing of our tax roll data. The annual tax roll audit process is extensive and thorough, requiring 4 different submission reviews throughout every tax year. These audits ensure that all State statutes are followed as well as confirming that the data meets the highest level of accuracy. In addition, sale statistics are run and compared to professional industry standards such as the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO). This assures that all valuations throughout the County are fair and equitable when compared to the market data as of the January 1^st 2024 date of assessment. This year our professionals successfully submitted our Preliminary Tax Roll the earliest ever on record while also maintaining the high level of accuracy required by the State.
