Message from Fremont Assessor Joe Herchenbach

This does not apply to Saddlebrook Farm residents.

On August 27, 2026, the Lake County Assessor's Office will publish property assessments for Fremont Township. Property owners will receive their blue assessment notice, which shows the assessed value of their property as of January 1, 2026.

This is not your property tax bill. It marks the beginning of the annual property tax cycle.

If you believe your assessment is incorrect, you have until September 28, 2026, to file an appeal. Do not wait until you receive your property tax bill—it will be too late to appeal.

Every year, our office helps residents avoid the formal appeal process by reviewing their documentation before an appeal is filed. If you believe your property is overassessed, gather any evidence that supports your opinion—such as comparable sales, an appraisal, your closing statement, or other supporting documentation—and call for an appointment with the Fremont Township Assessor's Office within the 30-day appeal period.

This gives us time to review your information and determine whether a correction can be made before a formal appeal is necessary. In many cases, if the information supports a change, a correction can be made through our office, eliminating the need to file a formal appeal or hire an attorney.

If you have questions about your assessment or need assistance understanding the appeal process, please contact the Fremont Township Assessor's Office at 847-223-2846.

Please forward this to new neighbors who may not be on our email list.

Food, Cars and Fun at the August 30 Car Show

Food will be available at the Grand Dominion Cruisin’ with the Classics Car Show on Sunday, August 30, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Stop by, enjoy lunch, see the fantastic cars, and check out the fabulous raffle baskets and 50/50 raffle.

Max’s Dawg House will be on the patio grilling their delicious hot dogs and burgers, with seating available. Mr. Ice Cream Man will be in the parking lot near the DJ with a wide variety of ice cream treats.

The Grand Dominion residents put a tremendous amount of work into this event, and their generosity makes a real difference. Last year, the car show donated more than $7,000 in cash and checks to the Fremont Township Food Pantry.

Thanks to this support, Fremont Township families can receive assistance during times of need. We are grateful to everyone who works so hard on this event and to all who come out to support it.

The car show is free to the public. We hope to see you there!
