Dear Williston Wire Readers,

A new daycare center opened this week in Williston and preparations are underway for another one to open at Williston State College. Amy's Angels Childcare opened Tuesday at Light of Christ Lutheran Church while the Williston Area Economic Diversification Group is seeking proposals for a new daycare center on the WSC campus. Combined, the two daycares should provide space for about 150 children. For more information on the RFP - check out the story below.

Proposals sought for New Daycare Center at WSC

News Release - The Williston Area Economic Diversification Group (WAEDG) is seeking proposals from qualified childcare providers or organizations to operate a childcare center pursuant to a long-term lease of the Crighton Building located on the Williston State College (WSC) campus. Williston Airport continues to Recover from Pandemic

Williston Herald - The North Dakota Aeronautics Commission reported that the state’s airports showed “remarkable recovery” throughout 2021. The NDAC number show that the state’s eight commercial service airports ended the calendar with a statewide total of 886,809 airline passenger boardings, an increase of 314,716 passengers or a 55 percent increase from 2020. Williston Basin International Airport ended the year successfully, reporting more than double the number of passengers in December 2021 compared to the previous year. Read More

Williston Economic Development - The year-end Economy at a Glance Report for Williston and Williams County has been released. The city and county's taxable sales and purchases are up 30 percent in Williston and 28 percent in Williams County while airport enplanements and housing sales are also stronger than 2020. Williston Economic Development - New business owner Kari Downer spoke to 1 Million Cups Williston on Wednesday, February 2 at Daily Addiction Coffee House. Downer, a registered nurse, has opened a new home business called Nutrition and Beyond. State Funds benefit Three Western North Dakota
CTE Programs

Dickinson Herald - Of the three facilities chosen to receive legislative funding to expand career opportunities in North Dakota, the Southwest Career and Technical Education Academy in Dickinson will receive approximately $6.6 million to help launch the construction phase. The Southwest CTE Academy along with the Bakken Area Skills Center in Watford City and Minot Area Skills Center — who will also receive $6.6 million apiece — were awarded through the American Rescue Plan Act. New Project Assistant

Roundup - The Richland Economic Development Corp. (REDC) gained a new team member, Corinne Bordwell. As the new project assistant, she attends public meetings on behalf of REDC, is the initial contact for the office, manages marketing aspects for REDC including the website and other projects as they arise, and several other administrative duties. Williston Herald seeks 20 Under 40 Nominations

News Release - The Herald is seeking nominations to recognize the next 20 Under 40 honorees. For the fourth year the Herald is highlighting the young professionals that are making big impacts in our community. The 20 individuals recognized will be honored in a special section in the Herald, and at our annual 20 Under 40 celebration in March. We will be accepting nominations until February 18th. Read More
