Education Forward Arizona champions the transformative power of education for individuals, families, and communities. The new budget proposal that became public this week proposes concerning and dramatic cuts, particularly to areas vital to Arizonans' ability to attain education after high school. Due to a $1.3 billion deficit over the 2024 and 2025 fiscal years, new investments are mostly off the table, and a 3.45% cut across most state agencies is under consideration.
That's why Education Forward Arizona is disheartened to learn about proposed cuts to programs designed to prepare students for postsecondary success and that investments to help more Arizona students access training and education beyond high school are missing.
This budget, as proposed, will likely not help Arizona rise from the bottom of national education rankings. We encourage concerned Arizonans to tell your legislators that these cuts are unacceptable, and continued lack of investment in education will not help Arizona improve its education system or remain competitive in the future.
