Dear ASHI Members,

Thank you to everyone who participated in the second public comment period. Your thoughtful feedback helped refine the proposed updates to ASHI’s Standard of Practice (SOP), one of the cornerstones of our profession.

The SOP ensures every inspection we perform is thorough, consistent, and transparent. It builds trust with clients, strengthens our professional credibility, and protects both inspectors and consumers alike.

We are now opening the third public comment period, and your voice is crucial in shaping the final version of the updated Standards.

While viewing the proposed updates, note the committee’s color-coded revisions.


• Black: Current SOP
• Green (strikethrough): Deletions or replaced text
• Red: New or replacement text
• Purple: Relocated sections
• Brown: New sections added for clarity
