Introducing Colorado Renter Rewards

On Thursday, February 5th, Gov. Jared Polis, the Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT), and CHFA announced the launch of Colorado Renter Rewards. The program allows residents of properties supported by the Proposition 123 Equity program to earn cash back for on-time rent payments and share in the property’s equity as it grows over time.

Colorado Renter Rewards is being implemented through a partnership between OEDIT and CHFA, and is powered by Stake, a financial technology company. Fall River Village in Estes Park recently became the first property to join the program. Additional information is available at coloradorenterrewards.com

About the Proposition 123 Equity Program

The Proposition 123 Equity program provides below-market-rate equity investments to eligible for-profit and nonprofit entities for the construction or preservation of low- and middle-income multifamily rental developments. Proposition 123 established the Tenant Equity Vehicle (TEV) as part of the Equity program. Colorado Renter Rewards functions as the TEV within the Equity program.

The TEV allows residents of properties supported by the Proposition 123 Equity program to benefit from the equity growth in the project. Interest payments from the Proposition 123 Concessionary Debt program will also be used to fund the TEV, as directed by the statute.

Additional details about the Proposition 123 Equity program are available on the Affordable Housing Financing Fund website
