Welcome from the Director of Enrollment

Dear Families,

Happy New Year! As we step into 2025, we are filled with gratitude for the blessings of the past year and the promise of the year ahead. We hope that your Christmas season was filled with joy, faith, and family, and that you were able to experience the love and peace of Christ in a special way.

As we descend upon the second semester of the school year, we continue to focus on the pillars of Catholic education: Fostering faith, inspiring excellence and building community. We will continue to guide, walk with our students in faith, inspire and challenge each student to reach another level of intellectual curiosity and knowledge and build community amongst the students, faculty and families.

As Old Man Winter descends upon us, I find that these months are often tough to navigate.  But the energy and spirit the students bring as they push through lifts me in spirit and hope.  May you, too find the joy of watching your child grow on a daily basis

Blessings,

Sue Ushela

Director of Enrollment

Happenings Around Saint Joe

Our faculty and staff came together for a luncheon before Christmas break. It was a wonderful opportunity to share great food, laughter, and holiday cheer as we wrapped up a successful semester. A heartfelt thank you to our Social and Wellness Committee for organizing such a fun and joyful event!

Prior to Christmas break, new signage outside the Attendance Office was blessed, honoring the late Brother Robert Dierker, C.S.C., and Sister Carmel Marie Sallows, C.S.C., for their decades of service.

Mrs. Brenner brought the magic of Christmas and reading together by hosting the SJHS Book Flood for our faculty and staff!

Mrs. Gergely's students perfected their suturing skills. They began with the basics and moved up to more challenging tasks.

The Saint Joe community recently celebrated the Rite of Welcome with Easton McFarland. Easton is a sophomore who began the process of discernment last year concerning a conversion to Catholicism. Raised in a different Christian faith, Easton has felt drawn to the Catholic Church since beginning theology classes at Saint Joe. His sponsor is his baseball teammate Brett Mason who was baptized into the Faith last school year by Bishop Rhoades. Easton will continue to learn about the Faith, and discern his movement toward Catholicism in the coming months. God willing he will enter into full communion with the Church at our March 19th Mass with Bishop Rhoades.

Boys Basketball hit the home court for the first time in 2025 and earned a convincing win over the visiting Washington, 96-53. The game saw Washington get out to an 8-0 lead, but the Huskies cut the lead to three by the end of the first quarter. The defensive pressure picked up and the Huskies took control of the game by scoring 63 points it the 2nd and 3rd quarter combined. The Huskies depth proved to be enough to finish off the game with a 21-5 fourth quarter. The Huskies were lead offensively by a total team effort with balance scoring including four players in double figures.
