Welcome from the Director of Enrollment

Happy Thanksgiving! November is here with our first snowfall (a small one) behind us and the winter season (but a beautiful Indian Summer hanging around) looming before us. We now face the end of the calendar year with Thanksgiving and Christmas quickly approaching. The holiday season becomes overwhelming and instead of slowing down to reflect upon the many gifts we receive on a daily basis, we become wrapped up in the urgency to meet expectations for the holidays.
As we move into the holiday seasons, may each of us find time to focus on the most important aspects of our lives: the presence of God in our hearts. As a Catholic, educational community, we strive to model to each other and for each other, the great teachings of our Lord on a daily basis. How thankful we are to be called as believers in our Catholic faith!
On behalf of the Saint Joseph High School family, I extend to you and your family a happy and blessed Thanksgiving.
Peace and blessings,

Important Reminder for Prospective SJHS Families
Saturday, Dec. 2: High School Placement Testing (HSPT)
8:30 a.m. - 12:00/12:30 p.m.
Doors Open 8:00 a.m., Event Entrance (St. Louis Blvd.)
Students who did not take the placement test on November 11 may sign up to take the test on December 2. Placement testing is a diocesan requirement and a part of the admissions process. All 8th grade students considering Saint Joseph High School are required to take the HSPT. The HSPT is a series of timed tests of verbal skills, quantitative skills, reading, mathematics and language skills. There is also an essay. HSPT test scores, along with recommendations from your child's current teachers, principal and/or counselor, help to place students in appropriate freshman classes. This is the second of two dates offered for the HSPT. To RSVP, please complete the form here.
Do you want to practice for the HSPT? Here is a link to a practice test. This test is not affiliated with Saint Joe High School nor HSPT, but an aid to review and prepare to come take the test.

Saint Joe Grade School Students Visit SJHS
|
|
Mrs. Kim Coleman's Digital Design II, III, and IV classes collaborated with the third grade at Saint Joseph Grade School. Mrs. Norwood, the librarian at SJGS read the book, "The Barnabus Project" to the third grade. The students drew their hybrid animal, wrote what kind of food it ate, and their habitat. Digital Design students at Saint Joe were assigned one of the hybrid animals to bring alive by creating a visual image using Photoshop.
|
|
The third graders met their Saint Joe artist and saw their artwork hung in the Art Department. Watching our students interact with the younger students was priceless, and the third graders loved seeing their animal come alive no matter how creative it was!
