Nuts and Bolts of Applying to GSST

Applying to Governor's School is easy - you just complete a straightforward online application and your school counselor and teachers do the rest. Student applications are due by February 14th.

Before beginning your application, watch this video for an overview of the steps required. In brief, there are three components of the application:

1.Student application:

After watching the above tutorial, click the Apply Now button just below the video to access the online application form that asks for background information, as well as the name and contact information for your school counselor.

2.Teacher Recommendations:

A separate part of the application asks you to provide the names and email addresses of your current math and science teachers, who will then receive an email request to complete a recommendation for you. It would be a good idea to speak to your teachers before listing them as recommenders to be courteous, and also to make sure they will be looking out for the online invitation. By returning to your application at a later date, you will be able to see when your teachers have submitted their recommendations. This should be done by February 28th.

3.School counselor component:

Your home school counselor will upload your transcript and provide additional information about your courses, grades and test scores. If you have taken an official SAT or ACT that you would like to have included in your application, be sure to let your counselor know.

Notification of Admission Decisions: Around the second week in April

We are always deeply impressed by the strength of applicants to Governor's School, and in the last couple of years I've also been inspired by their resilience through the trying times of the pandemic. Your student's application will be carefully reviewed and you will receive a letter by mid-April notifying you of our admissions decision. Whether or not your student is admitted, please rest assured that we sincerely honor his/her academic accomplishments and initiative in applying to GSST.
