In short, the answer is no. At Lake Oconee Eye Care we offer the latest in Essilor’s lens technology. Did you know Essilor invented the very first progressive lenses in 1959? Since then, they have been constantly pushing the boundaries of innovation to bring you sharp, more natural vision with smooth transitions from near to far offering clearer vision throughout, unlike the distracting lines of a bifocal lens.

Our Lake Oconee Eye Care team is available to help you learn more about how our multifocal lenses can best fit your needs.

The Fourth of July is a wonderful day to enjoy good food, good company, and, of course, an awe-inspiring fireworks display.

We want to be able to keep enjoying the sight of the rockets’ red glare in future years, however, we need to make sure we’re not putting our eyes at unnecessary risk of injury.

For many of us, summer time means a lot of trips to the pool, but before we dive in, we should take a look at what we should be doing to protect our eyes while we’re cooling off underwater.

Have you ever felt a burning, stinging sensation when you opened your eyes underwater in a swimming pool? That sting isn’t from the chlorine itself, but a compound called chloramine.

What causes that milky white effect that blocks vision? In a healthy eye, our lenses are filled with proteins that line up in such a way that they are perfectly transparent. However, over time, they can clump together and become opaque, creating a cataract. Even if the rest of the eye is completely healthy, a cataract can block some or all of the light from reaching the retina.
