SAFE & SECURE: Compartment Protection is an Inside Job!

Service trucks have a bigger job than bringing the right tools and crew to any jobsite. They must also keep your tools and equipment safe and secure—from would-be thieves and from the tough environments you face every day. That protection is something Service Trucks International builds into every truck body as a standard feature!

Despite the challenges of roadway vibration and load flexing on jobsites, STI’s advanced sealing methods help compartments maintain integrity, keeping interiors clean and secure.

Why Sealing Matters

Service body compartments are exposed to road dust, moisture, and debris whether on the move or sitting still. Without proper sealing, these contaminants can work their way inside, damaging equipment and shortening the life of valuable tools. To address this, STI uses a 3-part sealing system:

• Molded steel doors with a recessed design that allows doors to nest into the frame with hidden hinges.

• Ball-type automotive bulb weather-stripping provides reliable protection against dust and water intrusion.

• A 3-point compression latch mechanism offers tension in 3 directions.

NEW CRANE TEST STAND ELEVATES SERVICE AND INNOVATION

Earlier this year, a new crane test stand was installed in STI’s service center. This new stand is fitted with the hydraulic and electrical power needed to operate every Tiger Crane to its full capacity. This addition has streamlined inspections, service repair, and research by allowing us to safely simulate lifting operations in different environments before a crane enters or returns to the field.

"One of the biggest advantages of having the stand in the service area is that it provides a dedicated space for both R&D testing and service repairs without interrupting Tiger Crane’s main assembly lines," shares Brandyn Brummel, engineer. This separation keeps production moving efficiently while giving our team the flexibility to verify performance, explore new ideas, and test components.

Since its installation, the stand has been a valuable tool for the engineering and service teams—delivering faster turnaround times for diagnosing issues, validating repairs, and conducting new product testing. And those benefits extend well beyond our service bays and production lines into the field on jobsites of the customers we serve.
